LA PUENTE: Low-Cost Dog & Cat Spay & Neuter Clinic
September 26
La Puente Community Center, 501 Glendora Ave, La Puente, CA 91744
LOW-COST, HIGH-QUALITY Spay & Neuter Clinic for Dogs & Cats. Thanks to the generous and caring support from the City of La Puente, HEART is able to bring these extremely affordable services to the community!
APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED and must be scheduled online (click on the link at the end of this page). If you are unable to complete our online form, please call the City of La Puente for assistance at (626) 855-1555.
Space is limited and our clinics are meant for pet owners having financial hardships which may prevent them from acquiring these services at a regular veterinary hospital. All pet owners are welcome; however, La Puente residents will have priority to schedule appointments. Pet owners living in the incorporated areas of La Puente will receive 50% off our usual low-cost prices (shown below). Proof of residence for those living in the incorporated areas of La Puente is required in order to receive services at half-price. Prices for all other pet owners are shown below as the “regular” prices.
* Cat Neuter: $ 62.50 (Regular price: $ 125)
* Cat Spay: $ 87.50 (Regular price: $ 175)
* Dog Neuter: $ 112.50 (Regular price: $ 225)
* Dog Spay: $ 150.00 (Regular price: $ 300)
All pets must be current on their vaccinations. (Dogs: Rabies, DHPP & Bordetella / Cats: Rabies, FVRCP & FeLV). We currently hold low-cost pet vaccine clinics in La Puente on the second Thursday of every month. (View those dates on our website Calendar for pricing and other information).
All pets must be microchipped to qualify for our spay & neuter services. If your pet is not already microchipped, we will microchip your pet at the time of surgery (only $15), which includes lifetime enrollment of the pet’s microchip. (Our regular price is $35).
Pets must arrive between 7:00 am – 7:30 am. Late arrivals might not be accepted and pets on our waiting list will then be accepted. Pets will be discharged the same day of surgery and we will notify you when your pet is ready to be released. Please make sure that you provide us with your best contact number when you arrive so that we can reach you the first time we call or text you.
Do NOT give your pet any food past midnight the night before surgery, and please keep your pet away from toys or other items which it may possibly chew and ingest prior to the surgery.
We will not accept pets with fleas or ticks. Therefore, we ask that you apply or administer a flea & tick control medication to your pet within 30 days prior to your scheduled appointment.
We are unable to accept pets weighing over 50 pounds or any which are too tall or too long to fit on our surgery table. Pets must be healthy and we do not accept pets under 2 pounds, younger than 2 months old, or brachycephalic (flat-faced) pets (breeds such as a Pug, Bulldog, Pekingese, Boston Terrier, Shih Tzu, Boxer, Brussels Griffon, Bullmastiff, Cane Corso, Chow Chow, Dogue de Bordeaux, Persian cat, or other pets which may have brachycephalic features).
Our spay/neuter services include:
* Exam
* General anesthesia
* Routine surgeries
* Cryptorchid surgeries
* Pets in heat
* Tattoo near incision site
* Repair of hernia (if needed)
* Nail trim (if needed)
* Antibiotic injection (if needed)
* Pain injection
* Pain medication sent home with owner
* Betsy E-collar sent home with owner **
* Removal of deciduous canines (baby teeth) (if needed)
* Removal of unattached dew claws (if needed)
* Certificate of Sterility
* Post surgical care instructions w/emergency pet hospital list
** A “Pet Recovery Suit” is often a great alternative to using the usual E-collar. Many pets, especially cats, will not accept wearing an E-collar, while a Pet Recovery Suit is comfortable and normally very well tolerated by the pet; however, each pet is different and a pet could potentially chew through the suit, so you must determine what would be best for your pet.
If you purchase a Pet Recovery Suit from a pet supply store, please bring it with you when you arrive at our clinic. We will also have them available at the clinic for purchase at our cost.
